January was... February is...

Hi, I have taken some to reflect on what the state of affairs are, currently as you all well know we have been in a state of shock as Victorians, Australians and the rest of the world reel from the bushfire disaster... It has and still does become a little consuming....and will be for a while.

However there have been some really lovely moments that I have failed to reflect on in posts... I have decided to, after the many distractions of 'life' I just wanted to for posterity's sake, reflect on some beautiful moments that 2009 has bought me... My apologies if this seems self indulgent but I really feel a sense of normality is needed at the very least....

At the beginning of January my daughter turned Two years old, the significance of this has not been lost on me in many ways, especially after a very profound and moving experience when she was admitted to hospital mid-last year. The ensuing last 6 months has seen her recover quickly and develop and grow into a most delightfully cheeky young girl...not afraid to explore or do things on her terms, she possesses the most amazing determination, stubbornness and lack of fear...she'll tackle anything head-on.

She has a wonderful sense of humour, delighting in laughter and smiles so often. She loves 'drawing' 'painting' and playing with a variety of toys from her brothers cars and action figures to her own dolls and tea sets. Her tears can be comforted and soothed with the aid of a dummy (pacifier) or 'nigh nigh' as she calls it... this is the only legacy left of her stay in hospital a comfort, besides the hugs and kisses she receives daily...My maternal health nurse advised me on her 2 year old check-up.."If that is the only thing she acquired after her ordeal..then she is lucky and will grow out of using the dummy in her own time"...reassuring words indeed!

My son also celebrated his first day of School. As a family we walked him to school for his first day and hung around as he found his bearings but we knew he was settled...instead of the tears which had been welling prior to him starting, on the day it was a mixture of feeling very proud, relieved that the transition went so smoothly and very content he was in a wonderful learning environment.

As a family we have enjoyed the summer holidays, surviving the extremes of the heat and doing ALOT of swimming at the pool, in the Bay and in the ocean.... we have celebrated many wonderful birthdays of friends and family and have many more celebrations to come... Life is evolving and developing at a pace which this year I feel I can actually keep up with and so with my new found energy, has seen a resurgence of creativity and design work... which I will share down the track... for the moment I wanted to keep this post... light and fresh and with hope....

Also wanted to add... I read this post on Decor8 and found the blog Holly refers to Record the day an absolute inspiration for all the right reasons...take a look.

I wanted to say thanks also for dropping by my little blog - and to invite you to play that 6/6 photo game if you would like to. I had so much fun with it...
