Choosing a word for the New Year...

I first read about the idea of "Choosing a word for New Year" on Leslie's blog good-ness at the beginning of 2008...

The concept which I have also seen on the blog {A}...you must visit Ali's site as she is very inspiring...

I choose the following words for last couple of years:

2007 Birth - My year started with the birth of my daughter Cleo and many new experiences along the way.

2008 Rejuvenate
- After a year of so much change and growth, this is the year to recharge and rejuvenate.

I chose Rejuvenation after reflection on the previous year (2007-Birth) I started the year with having my baby girl and then we rode a tidal wave of emotions with the elation of birth came many other challenges along the way... I was still doing freelance work and never taking 'me' time and by the end of the year I felt slightly burnt out, so 2008 was the year to 'Rejuvenate'

On further reflection...I didn't so much Rejuvenate but found Resilience instead!

I have come along way in 2008 and had to dig deep several times over as I worked at over coming many personal hurdles. However out all of this came many amazing experiences in regards to learning 'resilience' and 'growth'....

So my chosen word for 2009...

2009 - Growth
For my personal well being, development and keeping the balance of family, work and free time. For the many projects I had to put on hold in 2008 and am able to refocus on. I can now also make time for my hobbies with painting, photography and my newly acquired hobby - renovating furniture! The growth of my family! As my daughter is about to turn two and my son commences school this year, so many changes developing emotionally, physically and intellectually. My 2nd sister newly pregnant, enjoying watching her grow and develop in the lovely flourishes of pregnancy and birth. My partner's creative pursuits in music, study and travel. All of us developing and expanding our world... So really it is the most poignant word for this new year and I look forward to the abundance of what 2009 will bring!

I also look forward to hearing what 2009 brings you all!
