This is.......My unconditional, passionately loved and favourite BOOK!

I love this theme so much... I had to ditch my not blogging for a while motto....

"Invitation to the Dance" originally by K.M. Weber, adapted by Keisuke Tsutsui and Illustrated by Chihiro Iwasaki

I was given this book by my parents for my fifth birthday. Inside the sleeve Mum has written my name and the year 1973...love it!

I have always loved this book and it is definitely one that has travelled with me everywhere. This book has a certain comfort factor. I do believe the book stayed at my parents house over the period I was living in Sydney whilst at University. But I remember rediscovering the book, probably when I moved back home to save to go overseas and we were reconnected... like old friends.

It was very hard to pick ONE book as there are so many novels classic, chick lit, literary, factual and philosophical that I love to read.

Yet, I chose a book that I will happily go back to even when I'm ninety, to take time to read the story and look at the delicate illustrations/water colour images.

Thank you to Daisy in la la land for the great theme this week for Angela's meme.

I also considered including my favourite childhood book, but I am sad to say it has been lost during my Mother's teaching days. Went looking for it on Amazon some time ago and found it was now a collector's item and I can have it for the 'bargain basement' price of just under $300! Eeeek!

Loved your book. Very beautiful.

That is gorgeous. It's so lovely that you still have books from your childhood, I think my mum gave all of ours to our cousins.

This is so lovely! I agree with Dees, both the book and your story of it are really special. I can't believe you've kept it so well since you were 5. Those illustrations are so gorgeous, I can almost smell the paint and feel the moisture of the paper.

And I just LOVED the passage about the boy with the waltz in his cupped hands! This will be the most magical story for your grandkids ;)
What a treasure.

Hey sweets - awesome book. I will have to keep an eye out for it. It definitely makes me wish I could paint with watercolour (alas I am cursed with a heavy hand - or claw as it looks at the moment with my wrist splint!)
Thanks for the kind words - another wee rainbow I needed to hear..
Much love
